The goal of translational research is to make sure that basic science discoveries can quickly and efficiently be put to use helping people. Community based organizations and are a crucial piece in helping the latest in medicine make the journey from “bedsides to communities.” Through decades of experience, UAMS has recognized that in order improve the health of all Arkansans, researchers must ensure that they’re engage with diverse, rural and medically underserved communities. The long-term researcher-community partnerships, such as those recognized at the Community Partner Celebration, are key to achieving that goal.

Our American Dream Fellows joined non-profits from across the state at the UAMS Community Celebration in Little Rock, AR. UAMS consistently partners with the Cisneros Center to address health access disparities for Northwest Arkansas’ immigrant, migrant and refugee populations, specifically the region’s growing Marshallese population.

The Cisneros Center is extremely grateful to have been recognized at this event, and proud to continue our partnership with UAMS and others committed to making sure all New Americans can access the care they need.
